Referring a friend to Keepr

Tell a fellow freelancer about Keepr and you both get a free month of Pro - no cap on how many friends you can refer.

Keepr has a built-in refer-a-friend program. Share your unique link with another freelancer, sole trader, or small business owner. When they sign up through your link and go on to upgrade to Keepr Pro, you both get a free month of Pro. There's no cap on how many friends you can refer.

  1. Open Account from the menu under your name in the top-right.
  2. Click the Referrals tab. The URL is Account → Referrals.
  3. Your link sits at the top of the tab - it looks like keepr.co.uk/r/abc23xyz. Click Copy to put it on your clipboard.
If you're on the Free plan, your link is also baked into the Powered by Keepr footer on every invoice page your clients see. So whenever a client opens one of your invoices, your referral link is already there for anyone who's curious.

How it works

StepWhat happens
1. You share your linkSend it to a friend by email, text, WhatsApp, or social. Anything works.
2. They sign up through itWhen they click your link, the code rides along with their session. They register a Keepr account as normal - no code to type in.
3. They upgrade to ProThey try Keepr, and when they subscribe to Pro their first payment is what earns the reward.
4. You both earn a free month of ProThe moment that first payment clears, two free months of Pro are issued - one for you, one for them.

What counts as a qualifying payment

The qualifying event is their first payment for Keepr Pro. Signing up alone doesn't earn it, and only the first qualifying payment counts - later ones don't add more.

What you actually get

One free month of Keepr Pro per qualifying referral. What that looks like depends on where you are today:

Your current planWhat happens when a referral qualifies
FreeYour account flips to Pro for a month, immediately. After that month, you go back to Free unless another referral has queued up behind it.
14-day trialThe reward sits in a queue. When your trial ends, instead of dropping to Free, you get the free month of Pro.
Paying Pro subscriberWe credit £9 against your next Stripe invoice - so your next month is effectively free. Your subscription continues as normal.

Worked example - three friends, three free months

You're on Free and you refer three friends. All three sign up and go on to subscribe to Pro. Three rewards land on your account. The first flips you to Pro for a month right away. The other two queue behind it and start automatically as each month ends - no downgrade in between. You get three straight months of Pro, then drop back to Free unless you've earned more or subscribed.

Queued rewards don't expire - they wait their turn. Refer 12 friends in a busy month and that's a year of Pro queued up.

Tracking your referrals

Once you have at least one referral, the Referrals tab shows a stats panel with four counters:

CounterWhat it means
Total ReferralsEveryone who's signed up through your link.
PendingSigned up, but haven't upgraded to Pro yet.
RewardedReached the qualifying payment - reward issued.
Months EarnedTotal free months credited to you across all referrals.

Below the counters you'll see each referral listed with the friend's first name (or a masked version of their email), the date they signed up, and a status badge - Pending, Rewarded, or Expired.

Keeping it fair

We check for self-referrals automatically - duplicate sign-ups from the same household, shared payment details, that sort of thing. If a referral trips those checks it's marked Expired on your tab and no reward is issued. Genuine friend-to-friend referrals won't see this.

You'll get two emails per referral: a heads-up when your friend signs up, and a confirmation when their first qualifying payment clears and your free month is applied (or queued).

How many friends can I refer?
There's no cap. Every qualifying referral adds another free month of Pro to your account, queued one after another.
Do I need to be on Pro to refer people?
No. Free, trial, and Pro users can all refer. The reward just lands differently depending on your plan - Free users get bumped up to Pro for a month, trial users have it queued for after their trial, and Pro subscribers get a £9 credit on their next Stripe invoice.
What if my friend signs up but never sends an invoice?
Their referral stays Pending on your Referrals page. The reward only triggers when they upgrade to Pro and their first payment goes through. No upgrade = no reward, but nothing's lost - it'll qualify whenever they do, for up to a year.
Is there a minimum spend for a referral to qualify?
There's no threshold any more. Any first payment for Pro qualifies, whether they pay monthly or annually.
What happens to my queued referral months if I subscribe to Pro mid-way?
Your queued rewards convert to £9 Stripe credits on your subscription - applied one per billing cycle until the queue is empty. You don't lose them by upgrading.
What if a referral shows as Expired?
Our fraud checks flagged the signup as a likely self-referral or duplicate. Genuine referrals won't hit this - if you think a real one's been wrongly marked, email support and we'll take a look.
